THE LIMITS OF SENSITIVITY
Abstract, psychological inner landscapes exploring the theme of emotional sensitivity.
The artist’s fifth solo exhibition, ‘The Limits of Sensitivity’, comprises twelve abstract paintings depicting various emotional states at the level of human perception of the world. Each work functions as a landscape in which visual elements of nature reveal to the viewer the subtle language of the inner world. These paintings explore the moment when a person is undergoing an emotional shift – a state in which a feeling is just taking shape or beginning to fade. It is precisely in such liminal moments that sensitivity is at its most intense: we notice more, perceive more deeply, but we are also more receptive and vulnerable. Toomas Pikhof uses the landscape as a psychological motif. Shapes, colours and light do not depict a specific place, but create an atmosphere that reflects inner changes and moods. These works open up a space where the viewer can encounter their own inner world.
The exhibition ‘The Limits of Sensitivity’ asks: How far does sensitivity extend before it dissipates into silence, distance or oblivion?
