“It’s a great pleasure to finally be able to invite my colleagues to an exhibition on the theme of education,” says Toomas Pikhof, headteacher of Pirita Business Gymnasium, with a smile, as he opened his painting exhibition in the Palm House at the Tallinn Botanical Garden – already his third this academic year.
A few days before the start of spring, accompanied by the songs of Elina Netšajeva, the solo exhibition ‘Turning Point. Before Life Decides for Itself’ is Toomas Pikhof’s seventh exhibition in five years. However, this is the first time he has focused on educational themes.
“For me, painting is a way of relieving tension. After all, being a headteacher isn’t exactly a walk in the park,” says Pikhof, who has wanted to become a teacher ever since primary school.
The 16 abstract paintings are divided into four thematic sections, each exploring turning points in society. Let’s first take a tour of the exhibition, during which the artist will reveal the stories behind the works.
