STATE OF SOUL

The painting series States of Mind is a journey into the most fragile moments of the human inner world — to the borderlands between light and shadow, hope and despair, life and death. These paintings invite the viewer to pause and discover the delicate beauty that becomes visible only when we truly understand how fragile life is. States of Mind is the collection of Toomas Pikhof’s sixth solo exhibition, comprising 13 abstract paintings. The works explore the inner journeys we experience when life casts us into the unknown — into the spaces between light and shadow, hope and despair, life and death.

“These paintings speak of shadows and light, uncertainty and regret, but also of the desire to live, love, and fear — of everything that moves within our souls when we are forced to step into the unknown along the dark path between life and death, hope and despair. This exhibition is an invitation to pause, look within, and notice the delicate beauty that reveals itself when we understand how fragile life truly is.”

The visual world of the exhibition is at once poetic and painful, yet deeply hopeful. Each work embodies a movement from darkness toward light, reflecting the very essence of its charitable purpose.

The exhibition created from this collection was held as a charity exhibition, with proceeds from the sale of the paintings donated to the cancer treatment foundation Gift of Life.

The Hille Tänavsuu Cancer Treatment Foundation Gift of Life is a privately initiated support fund dedicated to helping cancer patients whose treatment is not considered sufficiently cost-effective by the state. The foundation helps patients gain access to essential modern cancer treatments, offering them hope, the opportunity to live longer, or even the chance for a full recovery.
